As I have been working on the poetry book, I have been writing little notes to go with them with comments and memories related to the poem.

This was written in October 2020, just a couple of months after I lost Tom. I think it was well over a year after losing him that I had a day without tears. The days with tears are much less frequent now. But they can still appear without any warning.

  1. A Day without Tears

I haven’t had,

A day without tears,

Since the day you died,

They come all the time,

Without warning,

I cry.

Missing you,

Doesn’t go away,

The tears don’t stop,

And I don’t want them to.

I guess there will come a day,

Where I won’t cry,

But right now,

A day without tears,

Seems so far away.
