This popped up on my Facebook memories on October 25th. It was bittersweet. It has now been 30 years since Tom adopted Serenity and Josh and Tom had to remind me of the date again.
I never took for granted how lucky I was to find Tom and for him to love my kids like he did. Most people never even knew they were adopted unless it came up in conversation.
Josh has a very strong memory of us at the tribal headquarters for Tom’s tribe. We were there to enroll Natasha on the tribal rolls and Tom asked about Serenity and Josh. Since they were not biologically his, they could not be put on the rolls. Then the lady asked Tom which one was his “real” daughter. Tom gave her a look and said “They’re BOTH my real daughters”. Josh says it was one of the few times he ever saw his dad really angry.
