That’s how long it’s been since the day we found out Tom had a tumor in his esophagus.
In January of 2017, Tom had a CT scan that found thickening in the esophagus. The doctor said it could be scar tissue from years of acid reflux or it could be a tumor.
I remember rolling my eyes and saying “It’s not a tumor”. I was never so wrong in my life.
The scope was at the Surgery Center in Enid. If you’ve ever been in there, the recovery area is just a big open room with curtains between areas. Basically, no privacy whatsoever.
So when they came and got me after the scope to talk to the doctor and took me into a private room, I knew instantly that the news was not going to be good.
The conversation is kind of a blur, but I do remember the doctor saying the word “tumor” over and over and in my head I kept thinking “It’s not a tumor!!!!” (think Arnold Schwarzenegger in Kindergarten Cop).
The doctor was sure it was malignant and told us to choose an oncologist so when we came to get the official results on Thursday, he could refer us to an oncologist.
Then we went home to wait till Thursday for the official results.
