Today’s Motivation Monday post is part 2 of this year’s Word of the Year recap. To see part 1, click here.
My personal word of the year for 2023 was “open”. I wanted to be open to new experiences, open to new people, and get out of my rut. I felt like I was spending way too much time doing the same things over and over and over again.
I started off the year strong and was able to experience some new things and re-experience some things I hadn’t done in a while. I went to Eischen’s in January (hadn’t been there in years). I visited some parks in Tonkawa and Ponca City, and I went to Las Vegas with my mom, and I went to North Carolina on a work trip.
Then…I lost my grandmother. I was in a wreck. I got bronchitis twice, had two different oral surgeries for broken teeth, had some challenges at work, had my heart broken, and well, I didn’t do as much as I had hoped/planned.
But after having my heart broken, I opened myself up to a new relationship, which has turned out to be the best thing that could have ever happened to me. Without the Word of the Year there reminding me to be open to new possibilities, I am not sure I would have taken the leap.
Cary turned out to be the best possible person to come into my life. He accepts me as I am and accepts that I will always love Tom. I knew he was “the one” when he put his arms around me and said, “Don’t worry Tom, I will take good care of her”.
Do you choose a Word of the Year? If so, tell us about your word for 2023.
I’ll be announcing my Word of the Year for 2024 soon!
