This was a poem I wrote in the first few weeks after Tom died. Some mornings, there would be just a moment (maybe just a second) where I would wake up and I would forget that he was gone. Then I would remember. And get up to face the day without Tom.

For a brief moment,

When I first wake up,

I forget that you’re gone.

Then I remember,

That I have to face today,

Without you.
