One thing I have done since I started my full-time job almost two years ago is work on my part-time job on my lunch break on the days I’m working at home. That usually means that I scarf down my lunch, then spend the lunch hour on my personal laptop working.

Talking to the therapist about things I can do to take care of myself, I made the decision last week that I am going to start actually taking my lunch break two days a week.

On those days, I am going to do something for myself. Read a book, take a short nap, sit outside, etc.

I have worked at this part-time job as an online instructor for child development classes for five years this month.

This year, I considered giving it up, but since I now have a car payment (thanks semi driver), I decided it was wise to keep it, at least for another year. I did get a small raise, which I am thankful for.

Also, I love the fact that I am helping early childhood educators meet their education goals.

But taking care of myself is important too. My health has suffered a lot since the wreck in March, and it’s time to take control and get it back. I have been sick more in the last 6 months than I have been in the last several years combined.

So here’s to focusing on my health and wellness!

As corny as it sounds, my mom even said this, you can’t pour from an empty cup. As a woman every instinct we have is to put others care, physical health, mental health, feelings, laundry, food etc before our own, we must put ourselves first every once in a while. Because you really can’t pour from an empty cup. I’ve tried. I know you’ve tried. And it’s a struggle to know when that initial point is when things start that downward slope. I haven’t refined it yet, that’s for sure. But once you fully comprehend you’re giving too much, it’s good to have the self awareness to pause and pull it back some. I’m glad you’re taking that time for yourself. I think I might just make that a goal for myself as well. Thank your therapist for me, lol.
Love you! So happy work is going well!

Thanks Natalie! It’s hard to make time to take care of yourself when you’re used to taking care of everyone else!
